This CD-ROM is extremely complicated to set up and use. First, you must have a computer. Second, it must be a Macintosh, or a PC capable of emulating a Macintosh. Secondly, you must know how to insert a CD into the proper slot in the computer. You know, the one where your parents would put the toast.... Thirdly, you must know how to use the MacOS Finder interface. If you're lost by this point, please don't try to use this CD. It would only embarass you.
Before writing to us about missing discs or software problems, please read this page and see if your question is answered below. Of course, if your disc was missing, you wouldn't be able to read this now, would you?
Interface and Installation Issues
The following problems pertain to running the Vapor interface, installing software, or a combination of the two. They may crop up on any FMA CD-ROM, unfortunate but unavoidable side-effects of our efforts to create an entertaining and mildly confusing experience for our customers.
Just before or during installations, my computer freezes.
Well, you should be living in a warmer climate then, shouldn't you? Try knitting it a sweater.
When I try to run the Vapor interface, it says "Can't find interface".
Well, I'd really like to receive feedback if you get this error. Nobody has ever been able to find the Vapor interface, let alone get it to display real messages on their computer screen.
When I try to copy files from the CD-ROM to my hard disk, I get a disk error.
Your CD-ROM may be damaged or defective. If you have these problems, get someone to CD-R you a pirated copy.
When I try to install software, I get a -106 or -192 error.
This means that there isn't enough memory to run both the installer and the Vapor interface. You should run the installer directly from the CD, not through the Vapor interface.
When I try to install software, it says "Couldn't install because there was only XXXX K available", but I have plenty of RAM.
Ah, but you don't have enough space to install the software on your hard disk. Time to clear some space and take out the trash.
My virus scanner reports that this disk is full of viruses!
Well, congratulations on having an up to date virus scanner on your computer. If you don't get this message, you might be in for a long night of reinstalling all your software from those backups you made before you inserted the CD (you *did* make the backups didn't you?).
Beware virtual memory.
